Knee Injury Recovery Gilbert AZ

Pain in the back of the knee is a common complaint among athletes.  The popliteus muscle is the main internal rotator of the knee when it is in a non-weight bearing state and when we are in a weight bearing position, the popliteus muscle is responsible for rotating the femur on the tibia.  You more commonly hear “locking” or “unlocking” the knee.  It is a big player in a healthy functioning knee joint.

In this video, Dr. Keith Lavender, D.C., a Board Certified Atlas Orthogonal upper cervical doctor and Certified Advanced Muscle Integration Technique (AMIT) practitioner is testing a young gymnast for muscles that are not functioning properly and impacting her performance. He has identified the popliteus muscle to be aberrant or not working properly.  You can see she does not have strength to resist any pressure.

The brain and nervous system acts much like a circuit breaker does in your house. It will “shut off” muscles to protect from further damage. No amount of massage or exercise will strengthen the muscle until it has been “turned back on”.  In the next video, you will see the results after Dr. Lavender has used AMIT therapy on our athlete.
